Paul Edward takes over open stage at The Ark in Ann Arbor (if you can call the allotted 8 minutes a “takeover”) to tease the first song from his debut Album When I’m 64.
To make it extra special, he’s convinced Chris Canas and Nikki D that playing open stage at The Ark is good exposure and so they’ll be joining Paul to save him the embarrassment of being that songwriter who can’t sing his own songs.
And that’s significant, because after The Skyles Calhoun Band broke up, Paul (Edward) Purdue was an on and off regular at The Ark Open Stage for over 3 decades, singing covers with the above referenced “voice God gave him.”
Chris Canas defines Detroit Blues with a record called Detroit that hit 6 on the Billboard Blues chart, and Guitar World Magazine calls Nikki D the Jimmy Hendrix of Sacred Steel. Sounds like they got the business end of who’s getting good exposure.
Paul lost his ticket for a guaranteed slot (artists that don’t get to play two open stages in a row get a free ride, as long as they don’t lose their “golden ticket”). You can help him out by using the register now button above to let us know you’re coming (another way to get a guaranteed slot at open stage is to bring people who pay to get in).
Won’t you be one of those? We’d be quite pleased 😎. Just click “Register Now” above to let us know you are coming (you’ll pay at the door)
Oh yeah: You can also (or only) pre-order the album with that handy “Register Now” button. Even if you’re not coming,
