Based in Southeast Michigan, The Wildflowers are an Americana trio featuring Hilary Finchum, Kandy Fredrick, and Shannon Lee. The group blends rich vocal harmonies with acoustic instrumentation—including fiddle, guitar, and mandolin—to create a sound rooted in folk and country traditions. Each member brings a wealth of individual experience to the trio: Shannon Lee is a longtime Ann Arbor-area performer, Kandy Fredrick is an established songwriter with Kentucky roots, and Hilary Finchum is a Tennessee-born ethnomusicologist with a diverse background ranging from classical to progressive rock.

Since their debut at Moonwinks Café in early 2025, the trio has built a strong regional presence through performances at venues such as North Star Lounge and Ypsilanti Alehouse. Their original songwriting explores themes of love, family, and contemporary womanhood, resulting in an emotionally resonant sound that Lori Stratton of The Stratton Setlist describes as a "musical sisterhood". By combining their unique musical histories, The Wildflowers produce intimate arrangements that are both deeply personal and fully realized.
